Family Train Ride Opportunity

As an official representative of the Bellefonte Historical Railroad Society – BHRS – I am offering Scouts & Cubs in Troop/Pack 45 the following.

In exchange for a pledge of assistance at some future date to fulfill required community service hours (more details below) BHRS is offering tickets to our upcoming Haunted Halloween Express ride on Friday, October 18th, 8PM at $6.00 per ticket for Troop/Pack members and accompanying family members. The face value of the tickets is $10.00. Although we are offering the tickets at $6.00 to accompanying family members we will not refuse to accept the full face value of $10.00 if anyone so desires to aid our organization in this vital fundraiser. $6.00 only covers our expenses and adds nothing to our coffers. Regardless, All chartered Scouts need pay only $6.00. Participating Scouts would be asked to wear either their uniform or a Halloween costume.

Tickets must be purchased in advance directly through me. I can process credit card sales but that will incur a surcharge to offset the additional expense incurred from processing the charge.

As for the pledge of community service mentioned above – BHRS routinely has work parties and Scouts might be called upon to do things like railroad track right of way brush clearing, static display painting and maintenance, work party clean-up duties, Christmas excursion assistance duties, etc. Scouts would be required to sign a pledge for future assistance and I or another member of our organization would keep track to ensure each Scout who buys a ticket eventually makes good on his pledge. If this is acceptable please let me know ASAP and we’ll get the word out to the boys through your established channels.

BHRS is a 501C3 non-profit organization.

Scoutmaster Note:  This is an exciting opportunity to check out the trains in our local community.  With the short notice, we won’t be able to organize it as a troop event, but we’re passing along the invitations for any families that would like to attend.  The railroad sounds like an awesome volunteer opportunity which we’ll also pass along to the PLC.  Any boys interested in fulfilling volunteer time might consider this organization, too.
